I didn’t expect it to happen, but yes, it happened. Finally I got rid of all that spam I received on this blog. Thank you BlogEngine.NET developers and contributors. Thanks to the last update to version 1.6.1.0 and the documentation explaining the new comment system I’m one of the happiest people alive.
For a long time now I received daily up to 50 spam comments. That’s maybe not as much as others blog receive but since I have the notification enabled, hoping that some people who are seriously interested on articles here leave a comment, I got tired of deleting every day so much emails. Not to mention to delete the spam comments. Now with the latest release of the BlogEngine.NET the new comment system makes it pretty easy to handle all that shit. Bulk deletion is only one of the features to mention. But the best thing is the integrated filters for moderating new comments. I must admit that I did not enable the reCaptcha feature which ships with the latest version but followed the instruction in this post to enable a Captcha method since reCaptcha disables the AJAX functionality in BlogEngine.NET. I additionally enabled the AkismetFilter with first priority and the StopForumSpam filter as second and voila… my inbox is clean again.
At this point I should say thanks to the complete BlogEngine.NET team for providing such a great piece of software and making my life easier with every update. I also want to highly recommend using BlogEngine.NET for everyone who is looking for a great blog software. I don’t know much about WordPress and other blogging apps but as a ASP.NET developer I can recommend BlogEngine.NET. If you have the choice choose .NET 🙂
