And again I think I should be working and again I write for my blog. You usually write about most wanted games at the beginning of a year since so many games are announced years before and are hyped that much that you are forced to anticipate them, or you write about those games at the end of a year, kinda review like. Now I write about it on September and this was a good decision. Representing my own opinion I listed the games as usually in an order starting with the most anticipated game for me. Enough impressions. Here we go with the toplist.
RAGE No secret I’m a big id fan. I grew up with their games and I’m the one who cant hardly wait until the next title is released. Every new game is a complete new experience. This time it’s something more since we are about to get a complete new id game experience.
Dead Island Yes I love zombie games, and yes the first trailer with the family on holiday was awesome. I think only because of this first trailer this game was hyped that much. It’s one of my most anticipated titles. Preordered and still waiting for the 9th September when we all go to Banoi for vacation.
Portal 2 Totally unimpressed by in-game footage and trailers this was no surprise that this title got all the awards and that high ratings. High quality AAA title “Made by Valve Software”
Hard Reset Totally unexpected this game seems to be the biggest surprise in 2011. A trailer was released out of nowhere with a release date only a few weeks later. Old school shooter with latest technology and that’s what it seems to get (which is something great!!!)
LIMBO So what is this game all about? Well it’s the best thing I could wait for. It’s film noir taken to the indie games. It’s something I would call “a new user experience”. See it for yourself.
Serious Sam 3: BFE Now this is getting serious. One of the best shooters of all times returns. Endless monster hordes, a damn nice collection of weapons, wide open maps and Duke’s biggest nemesis: Serious Sam.
Dead Space 2 I knew it would happen. While I tried to ignore this title completely I could not avoid it to read every news, every preview, every announcement about this. Damn I love Isaac. Sleepless nights playing the first part and so it was clear it would make it on this list.
Crysis 2 The only title which caused me a headache is Crysis 2. I didn’t know where exactly to put it on this list. CryTek proved with their games what they are able to do. At least with the first titles. While Far Cry was a damn great game, the sequel (franchise) was a damn bad game. While Crysis was again a damn great experience I was separated about this sequel. Thank god they developed it themselves.
F.E.A.R. 3 F.E.A.R. is still one of the greatest titles in gaming history. It was a perfect horror shooter. Scary, cool with a deep atmosphere. All that stuff you are used from horror movies. F.E.A.R. 2 was a great disappointment in atmosphere but still good to play. Now we all asked us what the third part would be like.
Duke Nukem Forever Yes I’m one of the old guys. I grew up with Wolfenstein 3D and all that stuff. I waited 15 years and didn’t believe this game ever will be released. You know all that jokes about “Duke Nukem Never” and “Duke Nukem Ever”? After that long time I was asking myself if this was really a game in development or a spare time joke of 3d Realms. Thank god 3d Realms went bankrupt otherwise we could have been waiting for another 15 years.
These are only shooters? What the hell? What about games from other genres? What about really cool games like MW3 or stuff like that. So to tell you the truth I hate CoD and to go a step further I would have loved to place a game in here which is not a shooter (LIMBO is special). But I could not find any game which could do it into the above list. You are right stating that there are enough other games worth to be mention but this is my personal list. I asked myself: Which game would you buy immediately on release (or even pre-purchase) depending on what you have seen, read or learned so far from it? Voila! The above list was created.
