It has been a while since my last toplist. Now that the year 2013 ends I took the time to write about my personal best games in year 2013. It was a really great year when it comes to game releases so it was pretty hard to pick my favorites but I think the list below shows the best PC releases of this year.

Metro Last Light
This years best game was Metro Last Light. The game wins in every category. Best graphics, best sound effects, best story, tightest atmosphere, awesome gameplay, best sequel in gaming history. You could continue this list with any superlative you want. This game has it all. Try it you’ll love it. |

Crysis 3
It was a close call with Metro Last Light but a second place is also good isn’t it. Crysis 3 is maybe the best looking game that far. While I was kind of separated about that bow thing I loved it after a short time. The level design is way better than in its predecessor and the story is a bit more polished than in Crysis 2. Didn’t expect this game to make it that good but it’s really fun to play. You’ll love it! |

The Stanley Parable
So what can I say about this game. TSP is not a game, it’s an experience. The game will never be the same as you play. In fact a playthrough could take you about 6 minutes or it will take you weeks. Depends on how deep you want to dive into it. Even if the idea is not new or not innovative this game IS innovative in every way. It’s art, it’s story telling at its best. |

Shadow Warrior
I had expected a good game from FWH. What I got was an awesome game. Shadow Warrior is not only a great reboot. It’s a fucking awesome game. First of all technically this games looks pretty awesome. FWH has developed one of the best graphic engines available currently. Forget all those porting lies. These guys care about PC gaming. Second and most important: This game has the best sword fight technique. In no other game fighting with melee weapon is so much fun. This years greatest surprise is definitely Lo Wang. |

Total War: Rome II
What can I say about the Total War series? Nothing. Rome II is a great strategy game which comes in a fresh new outfit and makes fun and that’s what it’s all about. IMO the best strategy game this year. |

Tomb Raider
One of the surprises this year was Tomb Raider. I had nearly no expectations on this one. I didn’t read anything about it nor did I really care what the community said about it. I’m not a Tomb Raider fan and never will be one. But I love this one. One of the best things on this title is that it takes you immediately into it’s story. The atmosphere is great and the game looks very good on the PC. It’s really fun to play so it really deserves being in this list |

Gone Home
Like TSP this story driven experience is really interesting. Some time ago game reviewers and assholes like them would discuss if Gone Home is even a game or not. I would say Gone Home is one of the interesting gems you shouldn’t miss and find out for yourself if they are worth being praised that much. |

DmC – Devil may Cry
The best action experience this year (and maybe even for the last year). DmC is a hell of an action game. It’s very well balanced which makes it absolutely fun to play, it has an awesome soundtrack, good jokes and an absolutely good story. |

OutlastWho said survival horror games are not interesting anymore? One of the biggest surprises this year was Outlast. While I thought that nothing can scare me anymore I stepped over this title, tried it out and felt like I’ve never had played any real survival horror game. Outlast awakens fear with such subtle methods, often predictable and still it scares the shit out of you. A true winner this year. If you liked Amnesia The Dark Descent you’ll love Outlast. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it is not innovating and maybe that’s the reason why it beat em all. |

Bioshock InfiniteWhat a beautiful game. Bioshock Infinite is IMO the best of the trilogy. The game takes you deep into its own world and on a wonderful journey. A tight story and a let’s say unique ending make this game a true Bioshock and great video game. |
What you haven’t find in this list are games or the usual bullshit like CoD and Battlefield. There are several reasons why I didn’t even consider to include one of those into this list. First of all none of those where innovative enough neither on gameplay nor on anything else to allow them a place in this list. While Battlefield 4 looks great and maybe is one of the best looking games out there it’s the only point which is to mention. The gameplay is the usual “looking-through-an-ironsight-to-kill-the-enemy” bullshit or buggy as hell that you see your desktop more often then actually playing it. Even worse is CoD. With Ghosts they are selling a title which is based on old technology with dusty gameplay and a boring single-player.
